Employer Branding

Activate your employer brand with employee video testimonials!

07 NOVEMBER 2022

It’s no surprise that the candidate and recruitment market has undergone a significant transformation in the last couple of years. A generational shift, global changes and new digital trends have affected our expectations of both employers and workplaces. Daily interactions with your employees are not something you can take for granted anymore. And at the same time, candidates expect a better understanding and greater insight into the company before they apply for a job.

So how do you maintain a genuine and humane connection to create the next-generation candidate experience? And how do you convey your employer brand in a virtual world?

Authenticity is still trending

Communicating your employer brand in a digital world while ensuring you stand out in the crowd can be challenging. It´s even more difficult when your target group is strongly information seeking and value driven. In other words, the need for employer brands to be transparent is just growing stronger, and authenticity is still trending. The same goes for video marketing. Did you know that almost 50% of all internet users search for a video to get more information about a product or service before visiting the store? (source: ThinkWithGoogle) Why wouldn’t candidates act the same way when looking for a new job?

Strengthen your employer brand through video marketing

Employee video testimonials are shorter video clips of employees answering various questions about their job and company. The use of video as a tool in employer branding has become more and more relevant in recent years. It is also an effective way to create a relationship with potential candidates in a digital world. Not only does it provide a transparent and honest insight into your employer brand and company culture, but it also builds internal pride within the company. In addition, the credibility of you as an employer increase when it’s the employees who answer the questions.

“A company is considered 300% more trustworthy when the employees are answering the questions instead of the company itself”
— Charles Sinclair, Founding Partner & Head of Employer Branding at Oddwork.

How do you create inspiring employee video testimonials?

So, what makes an employee video testimonial inspiring? And what should your employees talk about to highlight the unique perks of your corporate culture? We asked Charles Sinclair, Head of Employer Branding and Co-founder of the video platform Life Inside.

How do you create highconverting video testimonials?

When the person in the video is genuine and transparent, you will get the very best results. It may sound a bit corny, but it’s just the way it is. People want to interact with others and get an honest picture of what the company really offers, whether it’s one of its products or an open position. So, try to be yourself and have fun. That will create great effects.

Can every company use video testimonials in their communication?

As a communication tool, video is a so-called structural megatrend predicted to grow even faster. Video testimonials are, therefore, suitable for both large and small companies. Not least, it is a very cost-effective way of communication – the only thing you need to record this type of video is your smartphone!

With employee video testimonials, you can easily humanize and take your company and employer brand to the next level and give candidates and customers an entirely new and personal experience. The industry or the size of the company does not affect that opportunity. Video is democratic and accessible to everyone today.
